The Vessels

The Southern IFCA operates four vessels located across the District. The vessels vary in size and are each designed to carrying out a particular function of the work of the IFCA for both enforcement and environmental needs.

FPV Tenacity

9.6m Cheetah Catamaran used as the primary research vessel. She is based in Southampton and is capable of being used up to 20 miles offshore. She is fitted with a pot hauler and has been used for underwater camera and side scan surveys across the District. The large, open stern deck provides a good work space for sampling, sorting and processing of data to be carried out at sea.

FPV Protector

7.8m Ribcraft RIB based in the west of the District. She is capable of being trailered across the District and can be used for rapid response and shallow water environments.

FPV Endeavour

19ft Robust aluminium vessel designed for use within Poole Harbour. She has a shallow draft and the a-frame and screen can be laid flat to allow access to otherwise inaccessible areas of the Harbour.

FPV Stella Barbara

7.8m Ribcraft RIB based in the East of the District. She is capable of being used throughout the District for rapid response and shallow water environments. The crew protection enables Officers to extend the patrol area and patrol for longer periods than the Protector.
